Mesh simplification and reconstruction methodology

Dear Forum
I have some questions about the data postprocessing.
I used the version 2.1.0 that no allow to export a point cloud, only a mesh. The reconstruction parameters are not visible and there is not information about the mesh simplification and mesh reconstruction methodology. Is there some research, article or manual where I can obtain this information? I will need this to reference the methodology and the software in my research.

our reconstruction method is based on KinectFusion: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/ismar2011.pdf

For the mesh simplification we are using the OpenMesh library: OpenMesh: Mesh Decimation Framework
