I am scanning a plain object with single color. It does have some geometry features, but not much texture and color features.
When I was scanning it with azure Kinect, it frequently lost tracking and reconstruction result is not good.
Will it help scanning if I paint some color/pattern on the surface of the of object?
Color information is not currently utilized, so painting the object will not help. You can however place some additional geometrically varied objects close to your target object to enable tracking and crop them out from the scan result afterwards.
